I’m rarely happier than with a sparkler in one hand and a piece of Parkin in the other.
With all the Halloween furore of late, I’ve been a little concerned that Bonfire NIght has become the poor Autumnal relation. Not so at House Candy HQ where we try not to dwell too much on the ritual of ceremonial effjgy burning and focus instead on the joy of super pretty fireworks and a warm pork pie.
After a short break and to help me get back into the swing of things, It feels only right to mark the occasion with a Candy Files special. Here’s what’s hot, what’s not and what’s what at my place this 5th November.
House Candy = Fire
Specifically the colour of. My love ignited most spectacularly by a visit to the new Neptune showroom near York where the Eva Grand sofa in new Fox velvet is threatening to burn a hole in my furnishings budget. Warm, cosy, beckoning for a Sunday afternoon snooze, it’s almost like an actual fire, but without the mess and the hassle. Smokin’.
Fine & Candy = Bonfire toffee
Again, not the actual stuff which seems like a good idea at the time but ends up stuck steadfast in my cavities. Instead I’m craving its rich hue and comforting nature. I’m after a very deep brown, almost black that will be softer than jet black and less obvious than grey. I think I’ve found it in Farrow and Ball’s Tanner’s Brown, which appears to be the perfect backdrop for my vintage finds too. Sweet.
Candy Pandy = Rockets
Unnecessarily loud and causing untold stress for my pooch. And y’know, I’ve really never been a screamer.
Stay safe and have fun everyone!
